ZINC UP: BOOST YOUR IMMUNITY AND VITALITY

Did you know that Vitamin C isn’t the best compound to take for immune support? In this week’s blog, we are going to talk about zinc and its health benefits.

What is Zinc?

Zinc is an essential mineral found in small quantities of red meat, poultry, some seafood, nuts, legumes, some fortified cereals and some dairy products. The greatest sources of zinc are found in oysters and crab.

Zinc deficiency is rare in the United States, but when it does happen, symptoms include unexplained weight loss, wounds that won’t heal, lack of alertness, decreased sense of smell or taste, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and open sores on the skin.

Zinc’s biggest benefit is immune support, and it is the best compound to consume to increase immunity. Zinc is also essential for fighting off infections, cell production, wound healing, creating DNA, human growth, reproduction and sexual development.

At our office, we primarily use zinc for immune support, but now that you know more about zinc don’t be afraid to tell us if you have skin infections or wounds, as zinc can help speed up the healing process.
